Either way this to me just says good style and purpose built. Glide front end, front brakes, sprung seat, footboards, big tanks and a usable sissy bar. Built to ride and looks great!

Again I can't say enough about Sonny and his paint its got to be seen in person to be appreciated. The bike still needs a few tabs cut and a little polishng here and there and the seat needs to be done by a real doood but we are so stoked on how its coming together. A 1200 too so good torque and fun rider for sure.

Trying to cover my own seat. My hat is off to the pro's that do this, its tough and I may need help from some friends. Started with a block of foam, an old leather jacket, cut and bent up some stainless for the pan and mount. My hand stitching is looking like hell but a friend left behind a commercial sewing machine made for heavy duty stuff so that may come in handy.

I'm not selling my bike its just changing with the seasons again. Alot of the parts on it will end up somewhere else and hopefully on the road or a good resting spot but it just needed to get freshened up. Matt, Annie and I went to Venice friday and Pete shot some great photos I can't wait to see. Then we had an amazing dinner at Pete and Nicky's house. Some of the most talented people I have ever met! Saturday morning we got up early and rode out to Born Free and had a blast. Kim won a trophy as well so smiles all around! (Great Job Kim!!!) Alex's bar saturday night and crashed in a luxury Motel just down the street. The ride home sunday morning down the coast was beautiful. Great weekend thanks to everyone!

Annies Bike for Now

Bikes are never done just ready for now. We will still change out the tires, paint, front brake, clean up the fork legs and many other things I am sure. For now it is ready to ride and have fun on. Last week we roded to Hell on Wheels and this week will be Born Free. Its been a lot fun fun changing it up from what worked for the last owner (who was a ruler herself) to what you see here. Changes we made were complete wiring overhaul, All the Bench*Mark goodies we could fit on, shocks, clutch lever and mirror, cut up some covers and put mids on, changed the seat, rear fender, Tail light from After Hours Choppers, exhaust, Start switch from Zero Engineering, throttle, grips, Gas Tank from Slim Fab, and of course a set of 9" rise 70 Moto Stainless Gentleman's bars. I'm sure there is more but thats what crosses my mind right now. Can't thank everyone who helped with words and wisdom and parts enough. Rouser, Matt, Kim and Pat Thanks isn't enough.

On Any Sunday

My sister talked Duke into letting us take out the bikes to Pala and teach the boys and to ride. Everyone had a blast and we had alot of it to ourselves for alot of the time. Great place with tracks for every level which for all of us is beginner. Riley Learned to use a clutch his first try and never killed it once all day, not bad for never driving a bike ever before! Aidan was full throttle from the start as anyone would have guessed. Iza kept saying vroom vroom and got her first ride too. Matt killed it and had a grin ear to ear overcoming an existing injury to come out and ride. I think the pain was a memory once he hit the dirt on the 250. I love dirt bikes and this was a blast. I haven't ridden 4 strokes much and they are still different too me but I am a novice at best anyway you look at it. Thanks to Annie and Duke for making this happen! Thanks to DC, BCM and Circe for the gear and bikes for the day!!!! I'm still grinning

So we got the exhaust done last night and the supports done today. This bike has come along way since its purchased form 2 months ago. The final change we have planned will happen when we get the tank Slim made back from the radiator shop. Its being red coated and we should get it monday. There will always be changes and different paint and stuff but for now its good. Here she is on the first real ride this evening down the 101 thru Encinitas and down the coast.

Guess what won't run with this sensor unplugged? Assembled and cleaned up the wiring but when I put the battery box back in, I forgot to plug the bank angle sensor back together. I love easy fixes!!!!

Stock wiring is fun

On my 91 sporty I put in a Dyna ignition and just gutted the whole stock harness which is really nice and easy to do. Then you can make your own from the diagrams they provide that come with the ignition. I highly recommend this as it simplyfies and gives a better system. It also will run you around $300. So on Annie's 2001 we decided to keep the stock harness and go thru it to save the $. This is what is inside the harness and you might want a good schematic to help you. I found some really nice ones here. This should be done in no time right!?!?!?

My First Big Twin

So when I sold my first Sporty it was with good reason. I had found a 75 FLH that I saw everything in that I could want. It was gross as all hell on the shop floor but I could see past the Shriners Lights, 8 Track, fairings, bags, gigantic seat and AMF emblems to what I really wanted. Everyone was like what the hell do you want that for? AMF was the bottom of the barrel at the time for sure and the first thing to take off the bike were those emblems. Funny how the haters these days seem to like the logos from that era and put them on Evos. My AMF was a great bike and my 61 FL is too, but I just like bikes, even Harleys. I rode this bike home from the shop when it was on 29th before it moved over to Agnew in OKC. My dad had to help my padlock the seat to the frame so I could remotely reach the ground. I laughed my ass off all the way home playing the 8 track wondering what people passing by were thinking. Some young kid riding this giant behemoth of an ugly bike blasting an 8 track with shriners lights. You can't tell from the pic but there is a light on every spoke on those wheels. I striped it down when I got home and painted it black shortly there after and I had what I wanted and my friends got to see what I had been staring at the whole time.

My First Harley

I got this summer or 1989. I wish I had pics of what it looked like when I first got it but I tore it down immediately with no idea of what I was doing. The frame was black and the peanut tank and flat fender were orange. I got it from a best friend Rigo. It had broke down on him when we were going for a ride not far from my house. We pushed it back there and after a few days he realized just how flat broke he was. I had a running bike and $500 cash so the deal was made. Ron Flynt a friend who knew bikes, or atleast Harleys helped me out. He taught me a few things like how to test the mag (ha ha), shim stuff with beer cans and keep it going. Invader wheels, Jammer Frame, Girder front end, Kick only with a Morris Mag, I was in Heaven. Dale at Freedom in OKC (he is still there) had my favorite ride around so I got the paint color from him and traded some work to a local guy to paint my frame and tins. My dad and I had purchased another sportster 2 weeks earlier that was supposed to be ours but I wanted something that was all mine. Sold this one 2 years later for $1200! Wish I had that bike back. The vin was something like (TEX200288) off the frame and it was titled as a 76 but the motor was really a 67. I'm sure there had been no wrong doings in its past.

Sporty Sprocket Covers

Been cutting up a few sporty mid control/sprocket covers lately. I have a good Solidworks drawing of a real minimal one which will get produced soon. The issue with cutting up the stock ones is they lose too much structural integrity and break easy. Also the structural veins on the back side look strange cut down. I cut this one down today pretty quick for a friend on the road trying to stay on the road. Not sure what he needs as far as mounts so I just kept them all and tried to keep a decent flow to the line. Hope you like it Jeremy. It was fun to do either way.

Kim and I have been having fun at the shop with ideas for these 2 sporty's we are changin up. Different directions but all fun. Annie (my sister) bought a 2001 1200 and Kim had previously picked up his 2000 1200 so they were basically identical. Its funny to see all the cover they put on these things and the ground to ground wires. I know its all to cover their butts and safety but I still think its a little over the top on the grounds. I mean grounding your top triple to itself and the gas tank to the frame. Really has that ever saved anything?

Family weekend

Atleast everyone in town that is, all piled in the cars and went to the Supercross in SD last night. Weather said rain but we all said who cares and took what we could to stay dry and headed out. We lucked out big time and the rain held out almost the entire night. It rained before and then started again right before the 250 uh I mean big bikes main but slowed up for the race and it ruled. The track was muddy but not a mudbath or anything. Seeing Windham take his heat was great and then the main was even better and Millsaps won, I love that! This is a great supercross season and its not because of the big $ guys but because it just seems more open and like everyone feels more like they have a better chance. Great racing for sure!

I know this pic isn't great but the board says it and that white/blue/yellow blurr is Windham in the lead!

The hardcore that showed up and endured SD's rainy weather all got great seats and plenty left open. I'm not bitchin about weather either if this is bad I'll take it!

I got all excited before the races earlier in the day and got the boys outside on their bmx bikes and we built a ramp like when I was their age. They loved it and were all like "how high was that one?" Gotta love it!

Got this bike in 89 and its been in various stages most of which were not running. Found this old shot and thought it was fun. Dom the girl was used for some ad stuff and was awesome and super funny. Oh yeah the bike is still not running. Maybe this summer? maybe next?

So I got the single fire ignition from a friend Rob and finally am getting around to putting it in and re doing all the wiring. Got a new VOES too so hopefully this thing will be a great reliable grocery getter. I pulled to see what cams are in here and they are SE Bolt ins so I'm pretty stoked. Here is my weekend so far.

I just picked up a couple small bits and said my goodbyes to a few old favorites, Old Blue and Red. These were a few favorite things I saw in the early morning before I set up. You can find great stuff out here at the Long Beach swap. You gotta be fast and early or willing to part with some good $. Either way even if your just looking its always fun.

Getting Marks bike in good shape. It has the SE Bolt in Cam and soon a new wiring and a new Dyna 2000i Ignition and single fire coil. Thanks Rob!

Narrow and Simple

Gonna sit on these for a few days but I think this is the final. I narrowed them 1" from the last version. They have a 35 degree sweep and are kicked foward 35 degrees from the rake so they sit almost straight up. They ride super comfortable! They are 304 Stainless so you can polish them or scotch brite them or whatever to the finish you want over and over with no rust.
